Kewadin Cares & Soo Greyhounds Drop the Mitts Against Cancer!

Kewadin Cares is excited to partner with the Soo Greyhounds for the 3rd year in a row to bring the “Drop the Mitts Against Cancer” program to the community.

During the 2012 – 2013 season, Soo Greyhounds players will visit the children’s ward at the Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.  For every visit the Hounds make they will provide each child a stuffed animal courtesy of Kewadin Casinos, and a ticket for the child and a parent to an upcoming game courtesy of the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club.

The emphasis of the Kewadin Cares is to help brighten the stay of the many young patients while in the hospital.  “It is a great way for Kewadin and the Hounds to become more involved in our communities and make a positive impact on their neighbors,” stated Kewadin Public Relations Director Michelle Bouschor.  “Kewadin is so excited to be involved with the Soo Greyhounds on this project to bring some joy to the youth in the Sault.  It shows what a great community we live in and we are very glad to be a part of that”.

Players will also visit other areas of the hospital such as the cancer clinic to cheer up those patients.  They also plan to mentor children living with cancer and take them to dinner/movies (depending on condition of patient) as well as give them tickets to games.  Greyhounds players will act as volunteers for the SAH and WMH helping to give families directions or to transport patients from the lobby to hospital appointments on various floors and also visit with residents in various Retirement Homes in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
